Some of the people we support - An email from Rwanda
Dear Rev Andrew,
Attached please find a photo of some of the genocide widows and orphans we
are working with, thanks to your kindness. They all attend Solace
Ministries services and, it is they who were so pleased to know people in
Guildford are praying for them (as I mentioned in my previous email).
Best wishes, Becky Tinsley,

The Wednesday Fellowship - Spiritual Encounters for every day living
The Wednesday
Fellowship seeks to offer a space where we can make connections between
what we do together on a Sunday and the life we live the rest of the week.
It will provide an
opportunity where we can:
* get to know each other better
* make connections between our faith and our daily lives
* offer one another prayer and support.
The Wednesday Fellowship will meet on the third Wednesday of each month
(e.g. 16th April) at
8pm in the St Mary’s Room.
In each quarter we will
hear more about the work of the Mothers’ Union in linking spirituality and
social action, explore with the Meditation Group new techniques of prayer
to support us in our daily lives and with the Parish Prayer Forum pray for
the needs of our parish and learn more about the work and concerns of
members of our congregation. This month, Jean Hoseason will be
speaking on AFIA Holidays; away from it all holidays for needy families.
The details of
each monthly Wednesday Fellowship will be advertised in both Crossway and
the Crossway Supplement. A leaflet listing all the dates for 2008 is
available from each church and from the Church Office. Each meeting is
open to all who wish to attend and individuals are welcome to attend which
ever sessions they wish. Further information is available from members of
the Clergy Team.

sessions at a time as activities will be carried over from week to week.
StoryZone is led by Mandy Welch, Nicky
Parsons and Andrew Bryant, assisted by a team of volunteers. To book your
place in the StoryZone, complete the attached form and return it to us.
At the first session parents/guardians will be asked to complete a
registration form. For more information please contact Mandy on

So come along
and join us as we enter the world of tall tales, amazing feats, mysterious
encounters, surprising heroes and stranger villains.
The
Good News Trust
For
several years now the PCC have very generously given a donation to the
Guildford team of the Good News Trust. Many of you may not have heard of
us before or be aware of the work done by the Trust.
The
Good News Trust is an interdenominational venture. Those who operate the
service and those who use it belong to a variety of churches. A number
of small vans carry a library of Christian books, tapes, videos and CDs,
delivering a free lending service to towns and villages nationwide. The
teams visit homes, halls, churches, sheltered housing and prisons. After
the initial visit, the team returns to exchange the books once a month.
People are encouraged to invite their friends and neighbours to come for
coffee, tea and fellowship and the opportunity to choose something from
the van.
Each
van team operates independently and is funded entirely by donation. The
Guildford team are particularly grateful to the PCC for their donation,
which helps us to pay the insurance, tax, petrol and maintenance of our
van.
In
this parish there is a visit to 61 St. Michael’s Avenue, Fairlands on the
first Wednesday of each month at 10.30 am. Everyone is welcome. If you
thing you would like to host a meeting (morning, afternoon or evening) we
would be only too pleased to discuss this with you.

Café
FairlandsThe Church
is supporting a new initiative on Fairlands which it is hoped will help
bring people together and help them to get to know each other.
Café Fairlands is on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of
each month from 2.30-4.30pm at the Fairlands Community Centre. This coincides with the fortnightly visits of the Surrey Mobile Library to the
Community Centre.
So come along to Café Fairlands to meet friends
old and new, visit the Library and stop for a cup of tea and a tempting
slice of homemade cake. If you have young children, why not drop in on your way to or from collecting the
children from school? There will also be the opportunity to view the
latest goodies from the Fairtrade and Traidcraft Stall.
Café Fairlands is open to all, whether or not you
live in Fairlands, and if you have not got transport to get there then
Fairwood Helpers would be pleased to help you (G.237619). We look forward
to seeing you there. |

The Worplesdon Welcome Pack
We are
delighted to introduce the Worplesdon Welcome Pack which contains church
and community information for those newly moved into the parish. The pack
contains Worplesdon's very own "Yellow Pages" which lists all the groups
and voluntary organisations operating in the parish. The packs are
currently available at both churches, local shops and at the parish
office. The packs are free so newcomers can help themselves. The hope is
also that if you are aware of someone moving into your road you will take
a pack to them as a way of welcoming them to the parish.
The
Welcome Pack will be regularly updated. If you are aware of any mistakes
or omissions or have ideas of how the pack can be improved then please let
the Church Office know: phone 01483 233091 or e-mail cofeworp@fish.co.uk.
So pick up a pack
and give it away! |
