Children and Youth

The church building is often described as God's House and we believe that on God's House everybody should be able to feel relaxed and at home. Church should not be a "Shush! Be quiet" place, but a place where children know they are welcome and can enjoy themselves. Too often when families come to church, the parents leave completely stressed out from having to contain the children; going to church can be anything but a relaxing experience! At both our churches, St Alban's, Wood Street Village and St Mary's, Worplesdon, we want children to be able to worship God in their own way. We have many different activities within our churches for children. Some of them are mentioned on this site. Within the churches there are toy bags for those children who prefer to stay in church with their parents. We are also developing a children's corner in both our churches, and parents - we also have toilets with nappy changing facilities! We very much hope that you and your children will enjoy coming to our churches and soon come to feel part of the worshipping community in our parish. You will find further information on our children's activities on this website, but if you have any other ideas to help us improve our welcome for children and families then please let us know.

Parent & Toddler Group run by two members of the congregation meets each Thursday in term time on Thursday mornings at St Alban's . We aim to conclude the session with a bible story and a singsong

Edward's Sunday Club provides a place with toys and a friendly face where parents and under-5s can retreat to during the Parish Communion.

StoryZone is an after school club for Junior school age children meeting each Tuesday in term time at St Alban's. The children join in craft activities, cooking, drama, singing and worship, all based around the theme of the week's story.

The Sunday Club (5-11yrs) meets during term time from after the Collect until the children return to join their parents at the altar rail for communion. A variety of resources are used in planning activities which normally follow a half-termly theme.

Holiday Club is a week long activity for up to 40 primary school age children usually in the first week of the Summer holidays, held at St Alban's. A variety of Bible stories and characters have been explored through drama, craft and song culminating in the Sunday morning service in which the children play a key role.

Youth PCC (Pizza, Chips and Chat) (15-18) meets monthly on a Friday evening for food, chat and discussion

Parish Youth Group (11-14yrs) meets fortnightly at St Alban's on a Sunday evening for fun and discussions.
