Welcome to Worplesdon!
We are a friendly, open and welcoming church community, with enjoyable worship and a relaxed atmosphere. We believe that God calls us to be at the heart of the area, serving the needs of the whole parish including the communities of Worplesdon, Wood Street and Fairlands. This means that we try to reflect the love of God in all that we say and do, growing closer to each other as caring friends and closer to our neighbours.
Newcomers are always welcome and we hope that you will find a spiritual home here – all are truly welcome.

Latest news: for more detailed information regarding the changes to church opening please refer to Alex’s parish email.
The PCC met on Monday 13th July to discuss whether, and how, to reopen our churches for public worship, which we are now allowed to do, provided that we follow very clear guidance from the Bishop of Guildford. The decisions made were as follows (but please note the proviso below):
During July we will continue to be open, with stewards, at both churches, for private prayer, between 2pm and 4pm on Sundays and Wednesdays;
From Sunday August 2nd we will offer two services of ‘said’ holy communion each week – at 11am on Sundays at St Mary’s and at 2pm on Wednesdays at St Alban’s;
From Sunday August 2nd the times our churches will be open for stewarded private prayer will be, at St Mary’s, on Sundays from 2pm-4pm and, at St Alban’s, on Wednesdays from 2pm-4pm.
**All of the above is with the proviso that we are able to find enough volunteers to be present at each service to ensure that only the permitted number of people enter the church building, and that they follow the guidelines once within.**
Weddings will resume following the governmental, Church of England and Diocesan guidelines.
Funerals may be held at St Mary’s after careful consultation with each family.
Baptisms will be offered on Sunday afternoons at St Alban’s only.
Please be assured that Worplesdon Parish has, at all times, followed the instructions given by our Archbishops regarding the closure of our church buildings. All video sequences showing the inside of St Mary’s Church were filmed prior to the lockdown.
